GUN SAFETY LOCKS
Sheriff Al Nienhuis asks gun owners to protect their families from a tragic accident by securing all firearms. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office has free gun locks available for the public to help them safely store their firearms.
An adult member of a household may pick one up from the Sheriff's Administrative Office at 18900 Cortez Boulevard (the Truck Bypass) in Brooksville or the District Two Office at 7499 Forest Oaks Boulevard in Spring Hill. One per household please.
The gun locks are provided by Project ChildSafe, a program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
