This is an increase of nearly 318% since 1980, and Hernando continues to be regarded as one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States.

Junior Citizens Academy is a two-day program for kids in 5th – 8th grade. This program teaches them about six of our different units we have here at the Sheriff’s Office. The presentation includes Forensics, Civilian Mounted Unit (horses), Communications (dispatch), K-9, Drone Unit, and S.W.A.T. for a fun, interactive, and educational two days.
