Brooksville Man Charged in Connection with 2025 Shooting at Savages Bar & Grill

A 46-year-old Brooksville man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting that occurred on 10-25-2025 in the parking lot of Savages Bar and Grill located in Brooksville.

Neil Roundtree Jr. DOB/08-06-1979 was arrested at a residence in Citrus County on charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Carjacking with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and various drug charges.

Roundtree was transported to the Citrus County Detention Facility, where he is being held without bond while awaiting extradition back to Hernando County. On 10-25-2025, deputies responded after an adult male victim arrived at Tampa General Hospital–Brooksville with gunshot wounds to both legs. The victim reported that as he was leaving Savages Bar & Grill, located at 1691 E. Jefferson Street, when an unknown masked individual ambushed him in the parking lot, shot him, and robbed him of his phone, wallet, necklace, and keys. The suspect then stole the victim’s white 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 and fled the scene.

Investigators recovered numerous pieces of evidence from the scene, including surveillance footage from a neighboring business that captured the suspect’s actions. Using witness information, intelligence, and video surveillance, detectives identified Roundtree as a primary suspect.

On 11-14-2025, a firearm matching the ammunition casing found at the shooting scene was recovered during an unrelated investigation involving a hit and run and fleeing from law enforcement. Roundtree was identified as the driver in that incident, and items linked to him were found in the fleeing vehicle.

Roundtree was later interviewed while in custody for an unrelated probation violation, but invoked counsel after denying involvement.

Following extensive forensic examinations and reviews of digital evidence, it was confirmed that the firearm recovered was involved in the Savages Bar shooting. Digital forensics placed Roundtree in the area during the time of the crime. A review of his long criminal history, including 27 felony convictions, was also part of the investigation. On 05-06-2026, arrest warrants were issued for Attempted Second Degree Murder, Armed Carjacking, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Additional charges related to drug possession, leaving the scene of an accident, and possession of paraphernalia were also part of the case.

On 05-19-2026, the United States Marshals Service along with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office took Roundtree into custody without incident at a residence in Citrus County.
