HCSO Deputy Battered While Investigating Domestic Battery Incident

On July 21, 2026, at approximately 12:07 a.m., a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputy was conducting proactive patrol in the Riverdale community in southeastern Hernando County when he was flagged down by a resident on Patrice Road. The resident told the deputy that a disturbance was occurring at a neighboring residence. Deputy C. Hauenstein responded to the residence identified by the resident.

When Deputy Hauenstein knocked on the door, a man, later identified as Jamie Allison Jr., DOB 10/07/1989, answered. The deputy observed blood on Allison’s body and that he was acting irrationally. The deputy also observed an adult female lying unconscious on the ground behind Allison.

Allison immediately became agitated by the deputy’s presence. As Deputy Hauenstein attempted to speak with him, Allison became increasingly agitated and aggressively advanced toward the deputy. Deputy Hauenstein deployed his Taser; however, it was ineffective.

The deputy and Allison then became involved in a physical altercation, during which Allison battered the deputy. The two ultimately fell to the ground, where Allison ripped off the deputy’s radio and knocked off his body-worn camera.

With assistance from the neighbor who initially reported the disturbance, Deputy Hauenstein was able to take Allison into custody without further incident.

Allison’s wife was transported by medical helicopter to an area hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

During questioning, Allison told deputies that he and his wife had been experiencing marital issues and that he had been drinking. Allison said he and his wife became involved in a heated verbal argument, during which he “raged out.” Allison said the next thing he remembered was fighting with the deputy. He said he did not remember battering his wife and attributed the incident to blacking out due to PTSD related to his marriage.

Allison sustained two broken wrists during the altercation with his wife and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Deputy Hauenstein sustained minor injuries during the physical altercation.

Following treatment, Allison was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center and charged with Domestic Battery by Strangulation, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting with Violence, and Depriving a Deputy of the Means of Protection or Communication.

Allison was initially held without bond pending his First Appearance.
